Glasgow School
The Glasgow school is a term that refers to
the group of the century designers which these were associated with the Glasgow
School of Art, where it was progressively directorship under Francis H.
Newbery1853-1946. Charles Rennie Mackintosh is the most prominent member and
with him there was , Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh 1864-1933, Frances Macdonald
MacNair 1873-1921 and also Herbert MacNair 1868-1955, where these four artists
exhibited Celtic- inspired designs together. In 1894 they became as known as
“The Four”.

Recently in May 2014
the Glasgow School of Art took fire, the fire thinks that it took place from
the basement where some students think
that the fire started by an explosion projection in the basement, the
fire was set to expanding foam that this
expanding foam was being used
for an art exhibition. The fire raised up to the half of the building
before it spreaded through the roof. The witnesses are saying that the building
is now irrevocably damaged.
The library was recognised as being one of
the finest examples of art nouveau in the world
It was a sad day for
most of the students, because the most important section got destroyed by the
fire which the section was the library.
The library was most recognized in the Art Nouveau style. We also know
that the restoration for this place will take time and also will be millions of
pounds.
The library was completely destroyed in
the blaze

Charles Rennie Mackintosh
Charles Rennie
Mackintosh was a Scottish art nouveau designer in the 1868-1928. Mackintosh is
more an architecture designer where that why we see the Glasgow School of Art. He
bases more on the art nouveau design which it is a very famous movement. The Glasgow
School of Art most leading art in Europe which this happened during the end of
the 19th Century where it had the repution in the architecture and
also in the decorative arts. Charles
mackintosh worked exclusively in Glasgow where we most of his best work still
remains in Glasgow. We also see that by the end of the 0th Century he has been regognised as the father
mostly the father of Glasgow Style and one of the focus he had was to approach the modern architecture, where it
is obvious because
Mackintosh was very known as an architecture designer. Charles Rennie Mackintosh has been
training as architecture in the evening classes at the Glasgow School of Art. While they were at the school Mackintosh with
his friend which he was also a colleague WHO WAS Herbert MacNair where they met
the artists who were the sisters Margaret and also Frances Macdonald.
These artists which
are four have been collaborated on some designs which were mostly for
furniture, metalwork and also illustration, which these were being developed in
some weird images and these were included in abstract female figures. This type of
style was given a
nickname which was
called Spook School where we see
some of their work which were
in England and
see that was influenced
from the Art Nouveau.
Charles Rennie Mackintosh
in the 1915 he settled in London and
then for the next few years
he decided to start and practice as an architect and
also as a
designer. We also can see that England worked in bold new style which is
for decoration which these were made by using the primary colors and also
geometric.
Mackintosh then moved
to France and he left all the architecture and started doing landscape painting
this happened in the 1923.
